UK Conservatives have planed to introduce legislation that would require websites that contain adult material to implement age verification checks.

In a report by Engadget, the Conservatives go a step further and block access to sites that deny to apply appropriate controls.

“An independent regulator will oversee the new system. They determine, in collaboration with websites, how to work verifying age controls and how websites that do not put in place will be blocked.”

The British government has already implemented measures to block adult content online, including the so-called porn filter that is performed at the ISP sites and block adult content.

As Engadget points out in its coverage of the proposal, “[r] estricting spectators at the point of payment may be ineffective, but, given the amount of content that is available online for free. Forms age verification are easily fooled and Site filters are already in place, leaving the government with few alternatives. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the party has provided few details about the policy. “

The ban adult material in the United States has not had much of a home at the federal level, but some Internet companies have sought to implement controls in blocking adult content. For example, Google recently moved to ban adult content on their websites Blogger (and force users to delete the contents retroactively adult), before his decision was reversed amid public reaction.
